The flag of Lebanon shows a cedar, typical for that area, on white ground that refers to the snow on the lebanese mountaincaps, framed by two red bands that remind the blood of the martyrs that died for the independence of Lebanon.

The name Lebanon comes from the Semitic root Ibn , meaning "white", likely a reference to the snow-capped Mount Lebanon.
